day 28

a song that makes you feel guilty

well, before I became an atheist, a lot of religious songs did. (why aren't there any good atheist songs? we're just as creative as the religious people! why do they have all the songs?)

Incompatibility

Chapter 10

The next morning, House woke up to the smell of his automatic coffee maker working and two comfortable sources of warmth, the sun filtering through the closed curtain onto his face and Wilson's naked body snuggled against his arm. He looked over and saw Wilson smiling in his sleep.

He sat up, not feeling hung over at all, despite how drunk he'd gotten the night before; he just had a slight headache. His leg was bothering him, but not any worse than usual so he went into the bathroom for a pill and a piss.

After having both of those and a big, feline back stretch, he decided to have a shower.

As the hot water caressed his lean body and he soaped himself up, he couldn't help grinning at thoughts of the night before. He thoroughly enjoyed having sex with Wilson, what he may have lacked in experience with men, he more than made up for in enthusiasm and an ability to learn quickly. "I just hope he doesn't think we made a mistake," he muttered to himself.

"No, I don't, but can you hurry up in there? I think my bladder's gonna pop!"

"I fucked you in the ass last night and you can't pee when I'm in the shower?!"

"Come on, House!"

"All right, all right!" He stood up off the shower shelf after having a fast rinse and grabbed a towel, climbing awkwardly out and giving Wilson space by getting out of the bathroom, drying himself next to the door.

When Wilson walked out of the bathroom, the first words out of his mouth were, "Uhhh, are we gay now or what?"

House snorted derisively. "I've known I was bi for bloody ages, you've gotta answer the question of what you are yourself. At any rate, it's too early in the morning for this sort of philosophical discussion. Coffee," and he walked into the kitchen naked with the towel slung over his shoulder and his cane firmly gripped in his hand.

He hooked the cane around the refrigerator door handle and opened it. "You take milk, right?"

Wilson looked distracted as hell. "Yeah."

About halfway through their first cup, Wilson cleared his throat. "I think I still like women, but I did enjoy last night."

House chuckled. "Well, I could tell that, I have been around the block a few times and I do know the difference between somebody who's just going through the motions and somebody who isn't, and the way you were moaning and 'oo-ing', you were obviously digging it. Anyway, I'm always gentle and use lots of lube, I'm not gonna just ram it."

"So what happens now?"

"That's up to you. I'd like to keep doing this if you want to."

"Are we a couple?"

"Uhhm, I think we're friends with benefits right now."

"Works for me." Wilson paused. "I think I'm gonna get dressed and go to the grocery store and bring us back some stuff so I can make breakfast."

"Sounds like a plan."

"I'll see if they have any macadamia nuts."

Ooh! A twofer this morning!

Lots of great lines, but this one's gonna make me grin all day: "Uhhh, are we gay now or what?"

Wilson needs to do some emotional processing here.

Good mastery of the monologues of both characters - though I spotted a couple of expressions I've heard you use, that I couldn't picture them using "bloody ages" and having been "around the block a few times."

Otherwise, I could imagine the actors' voices with great ease.

Very nicely done.

yeah, the odd Britishism does occasionally creep through and Hugh as himself might say that, but House probably wouldn't unless he was mocking someone British (or Aussie, if he were making fun of Chase).
my version of House does have a big streak of me in him, so I do sometimes having him using expressions I use.

Well, I wasn't expecting this. I guess I should have since you ship House and Wilson. lol! Now I really can't wait to see what happens next.

well, I did leave a hint in the first chapter with House saying he was bi and Cuddy freaking out about it.

John Lennon's "Imagine."

I could name many more, but in metal, atheism (and antichristian sentiment in particular) became almost trendy when people started realizing how childish Devil Worship sounds in lyrics.

I don't know if you like A Perfect Circle but "Judith" is a pretty awesome atheist song imo.

Actually, that song was written and performed originally by XTC. Great song. It's somewhere on my LJ.

My Belief - Possessed

I believe only the real
Walk through life on what I feel
Living my life from day to day
What's wrong, what's right, who's to say

I live how I want to live
I don't regret my choice
I give what I want when I want to give
And I speak my voice

Conformist pigs
Gather around
And criticize
The life I've found

Kill the pigs
Hear them squeal
They want to change
The way I feel

I cannot follow majority
It's how I'm living
Constantly

Find the power
To control
Soul on ice
Heads will roll

My belief

and it's one of their best songs! I think it's the driection they would have gone in if they hadn't broken up right after. They were getting a little older and moving beyond the primitive "satanic death metal" style of their first lp.

Wilson will have a lot of processing to do. From zero to receptive male/male anal sex in one go, at his age, with his best friend of two decades, and with both of them being in a het relationship... can't be easy.

Did you ever write a sequel to this? Kind of curious (I imagine Wilson would go and tell Sam he's been unfaithful to her, with a man, and she would immediately guess it's House, kick Wilson out and tell Cuddy).

This was really wonderful, I just wish it had been much much longer (or you would lengthen it).

why thank you.
I hadn't thought of writing more to this but you're probably right about how it would go (except it's Wilson's place so hopefully he'd have a spine and not let Sam kick him out; she'd move out instead).

I read all the parts in one go! I think it was fantastic! An eyebrow was raised at the Huddy beginning but I believe she would have reacted poorly, so spot on there. I like any story that can address the trueness that is bisexuality or, if you'd rather, just fluid, not really in a box, type of sexuality. We should all be lucky to find our House or Wilson. Thanks for sharing these links with me, you are a wonderful writer.
