Just had one of the BEST weekends I've ever had in my life! Spent it partying with friends some of whom I hadn't seen in ages.
Some people have asked me for a butterscotch cookie recipe i mentioned so here it is.
(BTW, not my recipe, it's from a Mrs. Fields book so don't sue me!)
Why am I more worried about being sued by Mrs. Fields than I am about being sued by David Shore??
2and 1/2 cups all purpose flour
           1 teaspoon baking soda
           2 sticks butter, softened
1 and 1/2 cups brown sugar
           2 eggs
           1 tablespoon molasses
           2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 teaspoon scotch (good Scotch; i used Glenlivet)
           1 cup coarsely chopped pecans
           3/4 cup butterscotch chips
           3/4 cup white chocolate chips
Preheat the oven to 300°. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda. In a large bowl with an electric mixer cream the butter and sugar. Add the eggs, molasses, vanilla and whiskey, then blend well. Add the flour mixture and mix to blend. Stir in the pecans, butterscotch chips and white chocolate chips. Do not overmix. Drop the cookie dough by rounded tablespoons 2 inches apart onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 18 to 20 minutes.

Saturday morning. Cuddy was leaving her office when the explosion came.
At least it seemed like an explosion when a woman patient she did not recognize yelled at her,"LET HIM HAVE THE FUCKING VICODIN! HE'S NOT SOME JUNKIE STABBING OLD LADIES FOR THEIR GROCERY MONEY!"
"I do not have to listen to this."

I've tasted that recipe - and I joked that it contained a pure-form opiate, as well. ^.=.^

...what is all purpose flour? Is it self-raising or plain? o.0 And what are molasses? Man, that's crazy. It's annoying when otherwise perfectly good recipes are written for Americans and I therefore cannot understand them. I imagine it happens the other way around too. And I can never remember whether baking soda is the same as baking powder or bicarb soda. Hmmm...but thanks for the recipe ;) I might try it out.

sorry, all purpose flour is plain. I'm not sure what the Brit equivalent of molasses is. Treacle, maybe? baking soda is bicarb. hope my translation helps. :)

I love your style! And, I must admit, also Cuddy's cool answer. So ignoring you, so IC.

OTOH, there's no way to replicate your recipe in Italy. No such thing as butterscotch chips or molasses/treacle. And pecans cost their weight in platinum (for walnuts gold suffices).

maybe, but Italy has the most orgasm inducing food on the planet. If I lived there I'd probably weigh 400 lbs.

On the other hand, if you'd be born Italian, you might have genes like mine. In which case you would like fresh fruit, raw vegetables without condiments, and hate soda (I usually drink only tap water, unsweetened espresso, and small amounts of wine).

And your childhood memories would include a litany of "mangia, mangia, mangia" (=eat). Because I was never fat enough. My top non-pregnant weight (on 5'7") was a third of 400 pounds.

i never really thought of individual taste in food as being genetic. my parents aren't overweight but they are always on diets and they do eat a lot of fruit and drink mostly diet soda (I can't stand the taste of diet soda). they also exercise all the time.

I'm not sure whether it's genetic, but it definitely runs in my family. I don't drink any soda because I can't stand the taste. Never could, at any age. One of my twin boys is the same, the other can drink very small amounts (my daughter drinks Coca Cola occasionally - she's also the only one of the three who's normal bodied instead of incredibly thin).

The no-soda twin counts among his favorite food: raw bell pepper, raw carrots, raw tomatoes, [all unseasoned], nonfat bread (baguette, say), all kinds of fruit. For his brother, replace bell pepper by cucumber. No wonder they don't get fat.

You can eat pounds of those and never get any weight on. At least, that's what my kids do.

Tomatoes are a big favorite in our household, both raw and in sauces. One of America's main contribution to the world's happiness, together with potatoes and chocolate. What would we miss without you guys!
