Yesterday was fun but it would have been better with a friend than by myself. My friend might come over today instead, I hope so.

Day 5--A book you should have read in school.

One thing I like about not being a kid anymore is not having to go to school. I hated school. Most kids hate school but I really hated it, not only for the usual normal reasons kids hate school but also because I was bullied and because I was one of those smart kids who thinks for themselves and one of the unstated purposes of school is to teach kids to conform. One sort of symptom of that is them trying to tell you what books they want you to read instead of choosing your own books.
Getting that off my chest I'm going to make a kind of unusual choice here. Any Jeeves and Bertie Wooster book. They're very funny and they always cheer me up when I'm feeling bad. I didn't discover them until after I quit college (yes, I was bullied in college, it isn't just little kids who bully).

I hated school too for the same reasons you did. And the local college was just a continuation of that hell, so I only survived one semester. In hindsight I should have taken a year off after high school so then those people wouldn't have been in any of my classes.

I didn't even go to college with the same people I went to high school with but most of them had the exact same fucked in the head personalities except they were worse drunks. That and I couldn't even just go home at the end of the day.

That sucks :( Oh well, it's in the past now at least. I'm still bitter about my high school years but I try not to dwell on what I can't change.

I take some comfort in the fact that I haven't seen or heard from any of those people in decades.

Hahaha love your icon! Unfortunately, I live in the same area as where I grew up and so I see a lot of the people I went to school with. Some of them moved here and now have families. The majority of them aren't too bad anymore though. Some people are capable of maturing. My 20 year high school reunion was actually fun.
