I am really fucking fed up. I know i don't look good. I am sick to death of being hit on by lesbians and deranged homeless guys. It fucking happened AGAIN. I'm probably going to wind up alone for the rest of my fucking life.

Lady, you need to get your ass off to a maths conference. So long as you look female and breathing, you'll be hit on by straight man. On the other hand, you may have to relax your deodorant standards (there's a number of nonstinking men too, but they're all gay or strictly controlled by their wives).

No. They might mind if you were stupid, but lack of math knowledge isn't a problem. You must remember math is a specialized thing, so even two mathematicians are usually unable to read each other's papers, or even have more than a very vague idea what they are about.

You, on the other hand, may find them too weird.

If you are on the Asperger spectrum, nothing like a maths department to feel normal again. There's a Fields medalist (there's no Nobel for us) who is officially Asperger. He invited my husband to dinner at his place once, and spent most of the time sitting on the floor reading the Encyclopedia Britannica. My husband was worried because he thought sitting on the floor wasn't good for this guy's back.

I'm about mid level Asperger's myself. I could probably deal with some of that sort of stuff without being too weirded out by it.
