Apparently Democrats can be just as sexist as Republicans. If it's wrong for a right wing pundit to call Chelsea Clinton a dog, isn't it also wrong to praise Obama because you think his daughters are "beautiful"? I am very definitely voting for Obama but I'm doing it because I think he's a good guy and I believe in what he stands for and I hate McCain and Palin. NOT BECAUSE OF WHAT HIS KIDS LOOK LIKE. the entire concept of "beauty" seems to have been invented to set up a standard to make most people feel like shit for not measuring up to it. If there were a culture where that was not considered important I would go live in that country but I don't think it exists.

it's just fucked up to judge people based on what they look like. all it is is genetic good luck or bad luck and has nothing to do with personality or intelligence or talent or character or anything else that actually MATTERS.

Exactly! People will make stupid associations about others based on their names. It IS unfair.
Personally, I have a friend named Katrina but I don't think I should make jokes about it to her. I'm sure others have, though.

Heck there were people who named their boys Adolf 'after' WWII...seriously.

I also think it's more constructive to tell little girls they are smart or brave than to focus on their looks. My niece is really pretty but so many people have told her that that she is now a very conceited, vain young girl who acts like she's a princess.
