Going to go to Trader Joe's later today and get groceries, hope it won't be too much hassle. There is a new local law where you have to bring your own bags or get charged for them which i find really annoying. About 20 years ago i used to compulsively save grocery bags and I had a big giant stack of them, now i wish I still did that.

trader Joe's is awesome. They have really great meat and produce and desserts and they're not super expensive.

If you get the right sort of reusable bag, you'll be converted. I have a couple of canvas totes that do a really good job of spreading out the weight so that my hands don't get pinched and it never feels too heavy. Also, they aren't ugly, big plus!

I still save plastic shopping bags from other places, mostly to bundle up things I'm going to donate like old clothes and books.

A lot of stores here charge for bags if you don't bring your own. I bought a few awhile ago..and they've somehow disappeared one by one haha. I'll have to buy some new ones cuz they were good. They held a lot and they were easy to carry. My biggest thing was remembering to bring them haha.

I can't see how this could cause anyone any problems. I mean, all the people who passed this law would simply have their servants carry the paper bags from the supermarket to the utility car and thence from the garage into their kitchens. It's not as if anyone who counts lacks cars, and might have the paper bags break open on the bus and spill out all their food. And even if it did, I'm sure that food isn't really a big part of anyone's budget ... I mean we all make, what, around six or seven-figure incomes, right? How much can one really eat?

I used a Jeeves icon but that doesn't mean I really have a Jeeves! (I wish I did, given how good he is at getting people out of jams.)
