I got the news from the building owners, my move out date is between the 16th and the 26th, roomie and I have been trying to get ahold of as many of our friends as possible who we think might be willing to help us. Most of the moving will be done this weekend rather than next to get it out of the way. Also I got a note last night saying that I have to go down to the office today at 11:30 for recertification which I already did so I don't know why they're making ne do it again. Also they said I need to give them the past six months' worth of my electric bills. Who keeps six month old bills lying around??

Where have I been? I didn't realize you were moving :(

As for the six months of electric bills... let me introduce you to my mother who has at least a year or two of past bills for EVERYTHING- cable, electricity, credit card bills, any kind of bill... and any kind of official paperwork from her state retirement system and both of our SS and SSI paperwork. Have to say the latter has come in very handy when dealing with the SS, but still, it is kind of amusing to go through her boxes of paperwork.

I have to move temporarily to another apt. in my bldg. for a couple of months because of renovations through the whole bldg. The place changed owners four months ago and there has been a fuckton of construction work going on since then.

Damn sounds like things are about to get really hectic. I am sorry about that. How long will you be in the new place before you have to turn around and move all over again?

You could probably register with your energy company online, if you aren't already, and get the past notes that way.

I will be in the other apt. for a couple of months.
I already called the power company last night, they will be mailing me copies of the bills but the lady said it would take over a week for them to get there.

It sounds like you're going to be living out of boxes for a few months.

I'm sure my hubby has at least 6 months worth of bills hidden away. He keeps everything like that.

Hehe he went to accountant school for several years. Old habits die hard I guess ;) I'm like you, those bills would be GONE WITH THE WIND.

once i paid them I don't see the point in letting them sit around. Plus, the new owners weren't even here six months ago.

I guess I won't mention that I have copies of my electric bills going back several years (but they are stored on the internet since I pay my bill online). I have file boxes filled with receipts, bills, insurance paperwork, etc. for each year. It makes doing taxes a breeze. But then I'm an anal bitch whereas you are normal. :D

What is the recertification about?

I wish I could help you and roomie get everything out. I'm good at packing. ;)

why do i suddenly picture Wilson being all anal about old bills and receipts and stuff?
the recertification was about my lease needing to be renewed because the ownership of the bldg. changed. i actually did the paperwork and stuff for this three months ago but there were some odds and ends that needed to be cleared up.
I wish you could be here whether i was moving or not. There are a lot of fun places here i would love to take you. :D

Of course Wilson would have old bills, in folders labeled by year and with subdivision by utility. I have as many of my bills as possible sent via email - which, in Italy, means only the telephone bill. I find the request crazy, good that the provider is willing to do this (and one week seems a reasonable time).

Good luck for the impeding move, and however annoying it was definitely needed, it's good that the new owners take care of the place.

this is true.
as soon as I get the dates from you re my trip to see you in Europe I'll tell the people at the front desk I'm going to be out of town on those dates so they should not try to move me back during those days.
