I have very little acid reflux experience but enough to make me hate it with a passion. Especially because lying down makes it worse, no wonder sleeping was very hard. Poor you.
You should go to the doctor. I didn't until reaching the excruciating pain with vomiting stage. The amazing prescription* pills she gave me fixed me right up.
I used to have that problem a lot. It was explained to me that the problem is not that the stomach is making too much acid but rather that it is not making enough and the food is causing the acid to float up and irritate the esophageal lining. So I was avised to drink a bit of apple cider vinegar with water anytime I had a moderate to heavy meal. Now I just drink a couple swigs of apple cider vinegar straight.
It really does the trick, the increased acid digests the food faster and more completely and I no longer have heartburn, indigestion or "acid reflux" issues.
