"I won't tell, Wilson. I'll never tell anyone if that's what you want."
Wilson sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose, looking more sad and tired than angry. "All I want to know from you at this point, Chase, is how the hell did you even find out I had cancer? I doubt House told you."
"No, but you and he have gone missing from the hospital for quite some time, along with some chemo equipment and enough painkillers and medical pot to keep a rock star happy, and I did learn rather a lot of snooping techniques from breaking into all those homes and offices for his cases."
House walked up, mock wiping a tear from his eye, "Aww, our little boy is growing up! Am I supposed to sing 'Sunrise, Sunset' now or something?"
Wilson muttered, "Now I'm getting flashbacks to when I was Motel the tailor when my high school did 'Fiddler'."
House gave Chase the fishy eye. "Using my methods to find out about me and Wilson, I don't know whether to kiss you or kick your ass."
Chase smirked. "Why don't you split the difference and kiss my arse?"
Wilson was expecting House to get pissed at this riposte but House laughed and replied, "Good, you grew a pair."
Chase cleared his throat. "Actually I wanted to get the opportunity to say goodbye properly to you both. I'm leaving in a few days. I've just been appointed the head of the intensive care unit at Melbourne Royal, plus my cousin Suzanna recently became an intern there so I get to do a bit of mentoring."
Wilson sighed. "So I probably won't see you again whether I recover or not."
Chase hugged Wilson warmly, then turned to House.
House said to Chase warily, "If you try to kiss me I'll break your damn arm." He was smiling broadly and his large blue eyes were twinkling as he said this, though.
Chase stuck out his hand and House shook it firmly. " I want to thank you for being rough on me, it made me a better doctor and a stronger person."
"But still a flatterer."
"Too bad you're not my boss anymore."
"Well, we've got to get going, I promised Wilson a road trip full of fun and debauchery before any more cancer treatments, we're going to take the opportunity to have as much fun as possible."
Wilson smiled. "Carpe fornicatium diem."
Chase looked a little surprised. " I think the Robin Williams character would have been the first person to talk that kid out of committing suicide."
House rolled his eyes. "You guys have got to start quoting better movies." He put his arm affectionately around Wilson's shoulder and began to walk away towards the garage. "Louis," he continued in a Bogart voice, "this looks like the beginning of a beautiful friendship." He switched back to his own voice. "See, that's how you do it!"
Chase called "Good luck!" as they walked away.
Upon entering the garage, House made a beeline for a sports car that looked oddly familiar to Wilson. "Wait a minute, isn't that the car the Arnellos gave you? I thought you didn't have that car anymore."
"It got stolen while I was in prison but the Arnellos managed to get it back while they were--" House cleared his throat very noisily, "--making sure some skinheads left me alone." He unlocked the door with an electronic chirp. "Hop in."
Once they were both in the car, House revved the ignition. "There anything you've always wanted to try?"
Wilson looked thoughtful. "I've never been hang gliding."
"Excellent, I know a place in Pennsylvania." House turned on the car stereo, which immediately started playing this:

Anyway, the whole chapter was hilarious, and I agree with everyone else, much better than canon. Scratch that, this too good for canon comparisons. I so liked the banter.
Love the idea of including the music with the fic (I couldn't follow the link because, well, Germany, but I could read artist and title and then found a clip elsewhere - not the whole song, but enough).

10/3/17 16:57 (UTC)I enjoyed most of the story, wanted some parts to be a little longer, and wished you'd left in whatever the Rocky Horror thing was. :-D I could absolutely see House (pre-infarction) as Frank, and I think casting Wilson as Brad is genius.
