greghousesgf: (House with Glasses)

I had plans for today but they were cancelled. I hate that. at least I had a nice time yesterday. It was such a gorgeous day that i took a nice long walk in SF, stopped off at M & K's for one of their happy hour cheeseburgers and a glass of pinot noir and admired the view, then went over to Crown and Crumpet, that great tearoom i discovered last month and had some lovely vanilla caramel orange tea and a piece of Quercyan apple cake (I would have no idea what that even was if it weren't for the Two Fat Ladies, only Crown and crumpet makes it a bit differently from the way they made it by putting whipped cream in between the layers of apples) which was incredible.

I don't think I've ever had wine with cheeseburgers. Is it good??

Is there anything wine doesn't go well with? It certainly fits with both cheese and hamburgers.

Hmm good point. I should try it. I usually drink beer with burgers hehe

I was raised on the Mediterranean, with bread and wine part of every meal. To me beer is an afterthought imported from the cold North were no grapes grow. But I do admit it would fit well with cheeseburgers, too :).

(I suspect House would drink beer, actually).

I love wine. Lately I've been able to drink certain white wines without getting a nasty headache so I consider that great progress.

And yeah, I assume House would drink beer with most anything :D

remember, in "Ice and Wine" I have him drinking beer at the hospital picnic until Wilson calls him on it and then spiking his cherry Coke with whiskey.

a good red goes great with a cheeseburger, especially a pinot noir, Shiraz, Zinfandel, Cabernet or merlot.

it doesn't exactly hurt that the bay area is one of the most food-friendly parts of the US.

Googled recipe for Quercyan apple cake, seems delicious but too difficult for me. Also, adding layers of whipped cream to a dessert is like adding wine to a savory meal - can only improve things right? I'm a big fan of both wine and whipped cream.

Great to here of you having a good time.

the two fat ladies were kitchen divas. some of the recipes they did were really hard but not only did they make them look easy, they seemed to be having such fun!
