I discovered a new tearoom yesterday! it's in a neighborhood in SF that i don't go to much because it's very touristy (Ghirardelli Square, about the only time i ever go anywhere near there is if friends visit and they want to do the tourist thing) but it has awesome teas and i seriously scarfed out on some yummy sandwiches, crumpets, scones, tarts and cupcakes. They even gave me a free hot chocolate! the very friendly British guy who ran the place saw that I was wearing a button with a big pic of Hugh on it so he told me he met him and of course i went all fangirly on him and I think he thought I was some noob who just knew him from House because he started explaining to me who Stephen Fry was and i was all, "Oh, I know who Stephen Fry is, i love him too, I have all the Bit of Fry and Lauries and all the Jeeves and Woosters on DVD at home," and he said he saw Hugh at some train station the day after he'd been to a live comedy show that Hugh and Stephen had been in. I was all "oo, what was he like?" and he said he only talked to him for like twenty seconds.
the weird thing about the place was the menu is, you order a certain number of tea sandwiches and sweet things and they just bring out different stuff so apparently you have to trust to luck as to what you're going to get which I think is kind of a weird system but everything they brought me was something I liked a lot. It's like is Jeeves back there? how do they know?

I can't believe it! You've met someone that actually talked to Hugh, in a touristy neighborhood of SF (I've been there years ago, and ran away because it all seemed so terriblyfake).
ThatBrits areable to miracoulously produce tea timetreats, onthe other hand, is not surprising (the miracle is due to the fact I like no other British food, and find most of it doesn't agree with me).

I'm a bit picky about food, though (for example I'm not fond of berries) yet I loved everything they picked.

I'm very picky too so I was amazed. there are certain things i absolutely will not eat. I sometimes go around it by saying I have allergies because no one questions you if you say you have allergies.

Honestly, you live the most interesting life. You go out for tea and end up meeting a man who talked to Hugh and you get a free hot chocolate to boot!

I'd be anxious about not knowing what was coming up, but I'm usually willing to try anything once.

And I hear ya about the allergies thing. I can't eat a lot of stuff cuz my stomach rebels, so I just say I have an allergy, which isn't altogether untrue, since it's more of an intolerance than simply not liking it.

sometimes for me it's a combination of things. I love chocolate and i like pineapple in some things (like pina coladas) but chocolate DOES NOT go with pineapple IMHO.

No, it really doesn't. I'm allergic to pineapple and although I like chocolate to some degree, I can only stomach maybe 2-3 bites before my stomach starts screaming "NO MORE!"

If I ever ate an entire chocolate bar in one sitting, I'd be shocked.

Man I love when I run into ppl out in public into my fandoms I had a male nurse in love with Damian Lewis. He would come sit on my bed and we would fan girl about him ha-ha.

Dude, I LOVE places like that. We have an amazing one in Houston. They have yet to fail me. The crazier thing is I have never rcvd anything with coconut or nuts on it and I cannot stand either of those things. It freaks me out thinking about it.

One of the downsides of having many gay friends is that when you said you just discovered a tearoom, my first impression was something very different from what you intended. Then I looked at your username, and thought "oh, no, couldn't be." That said, it sounds like you found a very good one.
