I finally found out what time and what stage darling Hugh is playing at next week! that's the good news, the bad news is since i have to get there early to get a good seat I have to sit through a 2 hour country and western (the one kind of music there I really dislike) set and the stage he's playing at is a lot further back from where I thought it was (their map is not to scale) so getting food might be more of a problem.

I'm so happy you are getting to see Hugh play. I hope he does a meet and greet with fans so you can talk to him a bit. *hugs*

I am psyched to get to see him play! I don't know if he will do a meet and greet but I hope so (I'm bringing my copy of his CD if he feels like signing autographs) and i can always bring food from elsewhere and do a little hiking, that's what backpacks are for.

Bringing your food would be my natural choice at a concert anyway, since at least in Italy everything you get a chance to buy will be disgusting or overpriced, and usually both.

I'm so happy for you! Hope you get to meet him, sweetie.

Oh dear I sympathise- I can tolerate only Johnny Cash and possibly one or two songs but generally hate country

Interesting. He's not getting Banjo stage, so it's NOT the "Steve Martin" treatment. FWIW, Ricky Skaggs is awesome. He's really moved away from "commercial" C&W to a much purer Bluegrass sound. I understand that still may not do much for you, but it won't sound like most of what passes for C&W these days in the Tim McGraw/Brad Paisley/Toby Keith vein. He's also playing pretty early, (and then presumably jumping on a plane back to LA) rather than a "headliner" spot, so better chance of the fog holding off and you getting up close, if not personal. I hope it's a treat.

if he just plays pure bluegrass, i have no problem with that (or rock-blues-bluegrass, like the Allman bros. or somebody like them would play), I just don't dig country except for Johnny Cash and old braid-wearin' pot-smokin' Willie. Those two guys could make ANY song sound awesome.

Pure bluegrass, I'm pretty sure.
