Feeling a little calmer now than I was yesterday. A friend of mine called me yesterday and told me my abusive ex is in town which scared the piss out of me. I haven't spoken to him in 13 years (at which point I told him to leave me the fuck alone) and had no idea he was anywhere near here. my friend actually wound up getting in a fight with him and beating the crap out of him which ended with the cops busting him because he had meth on him (my ex, not my friend. My friend doesn't do meth). He's in jail now but I don't know what's gonna happen when he gets out. If the cops contact me and want to know if I want to put a restraining order on him I'll do it.

Good to know. You're always saying how great your friends are, and in this case it's as clear as the sun.
I'm still shivering, though. I lived so far a very very sheltered, boring (in the good sense) life and the idea of an abusive ex with a prison record... I'm shivering, that's all.

I'm hoping that if you haven't seen him for 13 years, he's found new women to mistreat, if you know what I mean. But yeah, the restraining order is a good idea.

I'll do it if I need to do it. He can't hurt me if he's in jail but my friend gave my name and number to the cops and they're supposed to call me if he gets out and there's any indication of his trying anything.
