I usually don't like movies based on very good novels, and I have a love/hate relationship with LotR: I am awed by the book, or books, and at the same time have a feeling that I wouldn't have liked the author as a person.
But if there's such a general consensus that it;s a good movie, I maybe should give it a try. I could rent the first DVD, by now it should be cheap. This way I also get to see it in English with subtitles instead of dubbed.

Yes, I remember I wanted to see that. But at that time I was stuck in really small town with no decent cinema. On the other hand, I now found a friend with all DVDs of the Lord of the Rings, so I'm looking forward to seeing that over the weekend.

"The Goriest Movie Ever Made" Dead Alive. Zombie!comedy. Really funny and totally disgusting. Made in New Zealand, one of his earliest films.
