I have been watching a lot of CSI lately and i think it would be fun to write a crossover with House but I suck at writing mystery plots. I've tried it before lots of times and they're hard to do.
Mysteries are difficult. I signed up for [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] to do a Castle mystery story with another author, but it isn't going so well. I can't seem to strike a balance between giving a few hints and giving too much away in regards to the mystery plot and it is quickly turning into a subplot and that isn't the goal. Oh well.
Mmm... Try starting out with a really basic plot? Like... Um... There's a (mass?) murder and they go to the crime scene, but they find one person who's still alive and obviously who's a witness, but something's really wrong with him/her and House happens to be there on a conference or something and he has to figure out why the witness is so sick, meanwhile CSI has to try to solve the case without him/her.
You could try having a CSI junkie write the CSI chapters, and you can write the House chapters, or vice versa, or something.
the tricky part is not making the plot so obvious everybody reading it will figure it out or so obscure it looks like I'm pulling it out of my ass and there's no logic to it. I've already worked out what House is doing there, he went on vacation to Vegas (haven't really decided if Wilson is going to go with him or not) and he knows Grissom anyway.
I'd love to write a crossover of anything but I lack ideas and the patience to do the research that goes into it. Maybe one day. I'd love to do a Quantum Leap crossover and one day I might but I have no clue. Good luck with your ideas. I wish I could lend some insight but like you, I don't know squat about the human body and I haven't been following the show since Sara left a couple seasons back.
if I do it I'm going to have it take place in one of the earlier seasons when Gris and Warrick and Sara are still there. I briefly considered having Sara get some sort of crush on House but decided it was too cheesey. Anyway Catherine's more his type.
My first EVER and I mean EVER Housefic, before I even wrote H/W was a House/CSI crossover. Of course there was no actual mystery involved. It was a femslash story between Cameron and Sara, because at the time (Post Season 1) I saw a LOT of similarities. It got deleted from LJ, but I've retreived a copy and I keep meaning to go back and fix it up to my current standards. However, I'm not sure it's worth it.
