I'm gonna go game with some friends of mine later today. I feel a bit iffy about it because it's a new system and I'm fumbling with it a bit and also I haven't gamed with some of these people before. They're my friends and of course I like them a lot, but some people tend to put on very different personalities when they're gaming, just like some people are very nice in social situations but don't play sports with them because they take it way too seriously. Other than that, of course I am looking forward to seeing them.

Yeah, I finally figured it out after reading another post of yours. I had friends, years ago, who played the original D&D board games cause the computer/online version didn't exist then. It never appealed to me, however.

I don't play either one. I have a problem with spiritual games, movies, etc. They just mess with my head too much.

i.e. I can watch horror movies as long as they are pshychology-based and not demonic or withcraft related. It's not a fear thing, they just screw with my sleep for some reason.

I never thought of D&D as "spiritual", I'm just an atheist who likes fantasy.

Well, way back then (I was a dumb Catholic teen), it was spiritually oriented for me. The people I got around, who were playing it, got into the whole warlock and witches type stuff and it just creeped me out in my sleep at night. I've been away from any kind of role playing stuff for that long, so that is no longer be an issue. I'm much older now, and don't have bad dreams anymore. LOL!

I am not an atheist and I believe in spiritual things (i.e. a living God and his son Jesus), but I don't go around looking for demons under every rock and acting like a nut job and judging people, either.

You can relax, because I won't try to shove my personal beliefs down your throat. People get nervous when they find out where I stand on atheism and God, cause they think I'm going to act like typical church people do. I haven't and won't do that to you. I know how to be real. Anyway, I've enjoyed being your LJ friend and I'd like to continue, if you'll still have me.

certainly I would. many of my friends are religious, they accept me the way I am and I do the same for them, if their belief gives them happiness and makes them feel better when times are tough, good for them. What I object to is the Jerry Falwell types who use their religion as an excuse for their bigotry. I did have to sever one friendship with one woman unfortunately, she started acting like a butt about me being an atheist. A real friend accepts you the way you are as far as I'm concerned.
