Oct. 8th, 2022 01:44 pmI was supposed to go to L's house today but they're not feeling well so I'm going to a pop up Halloween art event in an old mortuary which should be interesting.
here are some of my foodie opinions:
as long as it doesn't fall off there's no such thing as too much icing on a cupcake
I like pineapple on some things but NOT pizza or carrot cake
I love scrambled or hard boiled eggs (especially deviled), omelets, frittatas, etc. but fried, poached or soft boiled eggs make me chuck. If I'm out for breakfast with someone and they order fried eggs I have to look the other way till they're done eating them.
There's nothing wrong with playing around with merging a couple of different traditions
If you can eat hash browns for breakfast why not fries?
Oreos are more fun to eat if you unscrew them
Mayonnaise is gross (unless it's the absolute minimum you need to get the right texture in chicken salad, etc.). Stop putting it on my sandwich. If I had wanted it I would have asked for it.
Cinnamon isn't just for desserts. It's particularly good in meat curries.
Everyone has their own likes and dislikes in candy but does anybody actually like those orange marshmallow peanuts? A friend of mine calls them clown poop. And they don't taste anything like orange or peanut!
I like candy corn. It seems so innocuous to me, I don't get why a lot of people are so grossed out by it.
Beets are the grossest vegetable. The only thing they have going for them is they're a pretty color. I notice there's no Chinese beet dish and I think the Chinese know more about vegetables than anyone else.
I know a lot of people love mint and chocolate together in cake, candy, cookies, etc. but to my mind it's like eating dessert and brushing your teeth at the same time, and I normally love chocolate.
The only kind of cheese I ever had that I didn't like was that cheese with ash in it. It tasted like I accidentally ate a cigarette and I had to drink a big glass of water afterwards.
A lot of people complain about British food being too bland but I noticed a lot of Brits like this mustard that can burn a house down. Anyway there are lots of Brits who can cook, I think that stereotype should die.
I love most fish but not canned tuna. It reminds me of cat food.
Coke Zero and diet Coke are NOT the same thing. Coke Zero tastes like Coke only very slightly less sweet. Diet Coke tastes like evil, just like most diet sodas.
Very few foods are equally good hot or cold. One that is is Kentucky Fried Chicken (original style)
I've never had a middle eastern food I didn't like.
