The maintenance guy pounded on my door this morning like some cop, scaring the piss out of me especially since I wasn't told he was even going to be here. he did some work on my stove and left without fixing the bathroom door, saying he would be back tomorrow but not bothering to tell me what time. I asked. he said he didn't know. What I object to is the utter lack of regard for my privacy. I hate to think about him showing up while I'm showering or shitting or what have you. I did at least have a very nice lunch, Chinese food and some lemon cheesecake for dessert. Brought roomie back a berry tart from the same bakery I got the cheesecake at.

I once was sleeping when the maintenance guy came into my apartment. What a shock! They were allowed to do that, and the lease said we couldn't add locks that would bar management from entering.

Just letting themselves in or arriving unannounced!? Yeah, what happened to a person's privacy? Doesn't rent cover that? *grr*

On the other hand: at least your homes are being maintained. I'm in a rental property and there are so many repairs that need doing and aren't being done. When they do manage to do a repair it's often done half-witted.
i.e. The linoleum in the bathroom is new but installed crooked.

I hung around almost all day yesterday and the idiot shows up just to tell me he can't do anything. He said he'd fix it Monday but I don't know if I believe him.

What. The. Fuck. My dad used to do maintenance for an apartment complex and I'm pretty sure if he had ever pulled shit like this, he would've gotten fired. (He did get fired eventually, actually, but that was because the apartment managers were giant dicks who thought that his being diagnosed with manic depression was a valid reason to let him go.)

On a less rege-y note: Mmm...lemon cheesecake.
