OK, I'm really fucking fed up. They're doing another bullshit inspection in the building today and I did not get the notice in the mail until YESTERDAY and when I called the office to complain about this they were all, "you should have checked the mail again, we put it in the day before".
I DID check the mail then and it wasn't in there, who the hell checks their mail twice a day unless maybe they're expecting something? THAT IS NOT ENOUGH NOTICE. I really feel like they are fucking with me, roomie and I worked like crazy cleaning up the place, I had other plans yesterday that I had to cancel, of course last time they singled me out for this shit they said my place was dirty when it wasn't and sent me threatening letters, etc. the best possible outcome is for them to just leave me the fuck alone today. Now I get to feel nervous as shit for the next nine hours.

No one's complained about me to them, they're just being jerks. Some of them are habitually rude to me and very pushy, and I suspect some of them have some sort of personal beef with me for being an atheist (as if that had any bearing on my being a good tenant) but I can't prove it. If I could prove anything of that sort, you KNOW I would have the ACLU breathing down their necks.
It's general policy, the bldg. did NOT have that when I moved in but they changed owners.

housing mgmt periodically inspects apartments/rental units to make sure tenants haven't put huge gaping holes in the walls, horribly stained the carpet, etc.

tho my first Brevard apt, they didn't say anything about the holes that the DirecTV dude had to drill in my wall to run the cables thru (probably because they only offered really crappy 39 cable package that practically no one wanted)

I got hassled for leaving my bathroom "untidy" because its where the litter box was. *rolls eyes*

they've been pulling this crap since the new owners bought the building 12 years ago, and they raise a stink about normal wear and tear as if you had a meth lab or something. Luckily for me they left me alone.

We live in fear of unexpected visit from the landlord. In fact, we really need to have the sink fixed and are sort of putting it off because we're worried about the condition of the apartment.

roomie is very handy w/ other stuff around the house but he (by his own admission) doesn't know anything about plumbing, otherwise I'd try to talk him into coming over and taking a look at it for you.
Landlords mostly suck. I've only ever had one I liked, most of them are fucking despots. I'm a big old capitalist but I agree with the socialists about landlords.
