a song from your childhood

my parents had a zillion albums of Broadway musical soundtracks when I was a kid and I was fascinated by show tunes. I don't think I even knew the plots of a lot of them. They also had a lot of fifties jazz so I grew up listening to guys like Miles Davis and Dave Brubeck.

Yeah, tell me about it :( I haven't got the hang of a budget yet and to be honest the disability is barely enough to get by. Forget about saving because even if you manage to save something, they can hold those savings against you.

It is like they don't even want you to try.

I'm on disability and I get paid less than min wage. plus I have to support my roomie a lot of the time (although right now he has some money because he has been helping a friend of ours move).

Yeah, I had to stop helping friends financially. I figured it out, rounding minimum wage to $7 an hour (I think it is like $7.25 an hour here in Maine). If someone worked 40 hours a week they would make $1520.00 a month. I do not even get half of that, factoring in the time I have worked and the other factors they use when figuring out what one gets for SS and SSI.

If I can help a friend out by giving them a lift to town if I am going in myself, sharing an occasional meal or lending an ear, I gladly will, but bills, meds and my own needs and wants come first. If I have anything to spare and it is an emergency, then yeah, I might consider it, but I've been taken advantage of one too many times when it comes to friends and money. Church and state do not belong together, neither do finances and friendships.

oh, he isn't taking advantage of me at all. he is extremely helpful around the place and always chips in money whenever he can, unlike my evil ex, who REALLY was in the habit of taking advantage of everybody he could. Which is one reason I broke up with him and don't want anything to do with him.
