Over the years, I've noticed a lot of things that are smaller portions, although sometimes they didn't change the bag size. Like, as a teen, potato chip bags were pretty FULL. Now, it looks the same size, but seems to only have about 1/3 of the chips that they did decades ago. Other stuff, too. But yeah, I think they hope people won't notice that they're paying more and getting less.
Another weird thing I've noticed... when I started trying to decrease the amount of soda I was drinking, I started buying the smaller 7.5-ounce cans, which worked well. But I noticed I was paying MORE for a 10-pack of the 7.5-ounce cans than for a 12-pack of 12-ounce cans. WHY??? Thankfully, I've stopped drinking soda altogether, and really, I think them overcharging helped me let go sooner rather than later.
