I talked to some woman who works at my doctor's office and told her all about this leg surgery weight loss issue and she said she'd call me back.
Also I don't feel one bit like making dinner tonight, I'm gonna go get Chinese takeout. This is probably not going to be incompatible with trying to lose weight if I eat smaller portions.

I ate smaller portions and I'm happy. The Chinese food will last longer that way too.

Realistically you should be able to eat what you like as long as you monitor portions and overall calories. You need things you like or nothing is sustainable.

Different foods affect your body differently. You know that. You might have to monitor what foods you eat and what your reactions are (and weight loss/gain) while eating them, but it's do-able. There's truly no easy way to lose weight if you feel "deprived", but I've done it - I know it can be successful.

it looks like I'm going to have to figure out how to do this on my own because that woman was a liar. It's been 4 or 5 days and she never called me.

I'm not sure she was a liar. It might have just slipped her mind. Phone her back and see if she might have forgotten. Life can get in the way of the best of intentions.
