Later today I have to go to the doctor about my leg. I'm afraid of two possible outcomes: he's going to say there isn't anything he can do or I have to have surgery. I'm not afraid of the surgery itself. I'm afraid of being incapacitated for a very long time after surgery because I live alone and therefore have to do everything myself.

The doctor gave me a cortisone shot and I'm supposed to have them every 3 months now and see if they work. If they do I won't have to have surgery.
