I went to the Indian restaurant I mentioned in yesterday's entry for lunch instead of dinner. It was a wonderful lunch, kadhai gosht (a kind of lamb curry) with rice and garlic naan and they even threw in some free papadums. I enjoyed myself thoroughly while I was having it but afterwards I went back to feeling bad. So many of my friends have become completely unavailable. Now that things have opened up more I mistakenly thought I would be able to see them at least sometimes but I just keep leaving voice mails that nobody answers and wondering if it's me.

Nope. It's them. People are buttheads, and during the pandemic, many have lost whatever meagre social skills and graces they had.

I'm glad you had a good lunch, but people are a bit gun-shy now, despite the fact that things have loosened up a bit. It's going to take quite a lot longer before life gets "back to normal", whatever that may mean.
