I'm feeling very burned out right now. I had to go to I don't know how many stores just to get $10 worth of quarters so I can do laundry because the banks are all out and the damn phone won't stop ringing. And every time it rings it's cretins playing games with the phone, not anyone I would want or need to talk to. If I didn't need to make outgoing calls I'd seriously consider just having it taken out. And people think I'm a freak because I don't want a cell. It's bad enough being annoyed by scam artists at home, why should I put up with them bothering me when I'm out?

My cell so rarely rings that, when it does, it startles me. Haha. And Scooter looks at it like, "How is the alarm clock going off now?!"

When my phone rings (it's a landline) it always startles me. It's hardly ever anyone I want to talk to. So I've silenced the ringer. It's nice and quiet here now.

With a cell phone, you can at least see who's calling. That may be something to consider.

my landline has caller ID but scam artists will put up fake phone numbers so that doesn't help (I'm not sure how the tech works for that)

If you ever get a different phone, consider getting a Google phone. My Pixel has a lovely screening program that I click when it's an unknown phone number. The caller can either leave a message (shows on the screen) and I can accept the call and go on from there, or they hang up. I haven't been bothered by any scam calls or telemarketers for months and months.
