Someone on another website said something about 1998 being a bad year for movies. I know there were some real stinkers that year but there were also some I love, like Dark City (which IMHO is a million times better than Blade Runner), the Big Lebowski (one of my favorite movies ever), The Man in the Iron Mask, the Horse Whisperer, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (doesn't follow the book exactly but captures the spirit of the book perfectly), Insomnia, Cousin Bette (another of my favorites), Pi, Disturbing Behavior, Pecker, Antz (which I like better than A bug's Life even though I live in Pixar country), Pleasantville, Gods and Monsters, Velvet Goldmine (another favorite), and Waking Ned Devine.

It's hard for any film to truly capture Hunter's mastery of words and vision (he used to live down the way from my cousin in Aspen - actually in Woody Creek). The movie wasn't bad, though. I do think "The Big Lebowski" is one of the better movies, for sure.
