For some reason youtube won't let me post this comment to a video about the worst songs of the 80's so I'm posting it here:

several worst songs of the 80's:
1.Come On Eileen
2. I've Never Been to Me
3. Wake Me up Before you gogo.
4 most of Phil Collins
5 everything Madonna did
6. Harden My Heart.
7 there was also a real stinker that I think was called No One Listens Anymore but I don't know the name of the band that did it and I'm not even sure if that's the right title. It starts "do you hear me do you care"

Interesting list.
Obviously, the band that did #7 was correct, in that you clearly weren't listening 😀.
#2 was catchy, until the talking about having babies, etc. All the women I knew of that era, liked it, loved the line "I've been undressed by kings and I've seen some things that a woman ain't oughta see."
#6 Can't agree with you about "harden my heart."

Perhaps, but I think you’re taking it a little overly-literal. Or perhaps it was women of an era who enjoyed feeling they were seeing “what a woman ain’t ’sposed to see.”

well, right off the top of my head I can name a few artists who were popular in the 80's whose songs I liked across the board, the Ramones, Prince, Cyndi Lauper and Elvis Costello.
