Day 5

A book where you loved the premise but the execution left you cold

I bought this book back in the 90's when I used to belong to a book club. I don't remember the name of the author. It was Sherlock Holmes vs. Dracula and Sherlock Holmes vs. Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and I thought it was going to be great. it was terrible! Totally boring and some parts of it didn't even make sense. And awful dialogue too. Ugh.

That does sound like it would be an interesting book. Sorry it was a let down.

I recently read a book like this. The premise of Petra K and the Blackhearts is amazing. It’s about a girl in the slums of a fantasy-style Slavic universe and there’s miniature dragons and even half-dragon/half-humans, but it seemed the author had too many ideas and just shoved so many things in that it just didn’t make a coherent story at all. Plus the main character was just kind of boring and not very well fleshed out at all.
