A book where you loved the premise but the execution left you cold
I bought this book back in the 90's when I used to belong to a book club. I don't remember the name of the author. It was Sherlock Holmes vs. Dracula and Sherlock Holmes vs. Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and I thought it was going to be great. it was terrible! Totally boring and some parts of it didn't even make sense. And awful dialogue too. Ugh.

8/4/21 20:05 (UTC)I recently read a book like this. The premise of Petra K and the Blackhearts is amazing. It’s about a girl in the slums of a fantasy-style Slavic universe and there’s miniature dragons and even half-dragon/half-humans, but it seemed the author had too many ideas and just shoved so many things in that it just didn’t make a coherent story at all. Plus the main character was just kind of boring and not very well fleshed out at all.
