greghousesgfYesterday I went into my local Peet's and this turkey who works there was singing the Lumberjack Song and getting both the melody and the words wrong, and I kept my mouth shut but then he attributes it to Saturday Night Live!!! I said, (and I swear I didn't yell) "It's Monty Python not Saturday Night Live!". What a philistine! Saturday Night live my aching ass! It isn't even good anymore!
Anyway, this guy sitting near me heard this, found it almost as irritating as I did, and we got into this great conversation about British comedy which then led into literature (he likes a lot of the same authors I do) and music and movies and history. He was a really interesting guy and his name is Tom. I love making new friends. I hope I see him again. I hang out at that Peet's a lot.
