I recently bought a new eyeshadow palette and it's a total rip off, you can barely see it. It's annoying because it's about the only one I could find that wasn't like 90% brown. I don't want a bunch of shades of brown and very little else. it's boring. I had to toss the old eyeshadow kit I had been using because I was starting to get really dry skin around my eyelids. Not a good sign when I normally am a fucking walking oil slick. I'm going to have to wait till I get paid in about a week and a half and go look at Target.

Yup. If I want real colors and not nudes, I look at the stuff that's marketed to people in my son's age group. And then there's an even chance that the colors will be too bright, and I'll end up looking like a clown. The palette I'm currently happiest with is a Cover Girl peachy palette that is, for some bizarre reason, scented. Cover Girl is not my go-to, but I was sick of nudes, and I'm too old for glitter or creamy purples and pinks. It's browns, but those work with my skin tone, and there's a difference between shades of peach and brown and nudes that, frankly, I don't see the point of wearing. If I don't want color on my eyelids... I don't wear eye shadow.

I do wear glitter and purples and pinks and don't think I'm "too old". I don't know how old your son is but I'm all for people wearing what they want to wear and not what somebody in some magazine says who's getting paid by the companies to say whatever will make them more money anyway. And I totally agree with you about the last part!
(Scented eye makeup sounds like it would cause irritation bigtime.)
