A book where you were dubious about the premise but loved the work
I read my first Jeeves and Bertie Wooster book back when I was in high school (my dad gave me The Inimitable Jeeves as a present) and I had no idea how funny they were! At the time, the TV show didn't exist and Hugh and Stephen weren't famous yet and I had only the simplest concept of the premise of the books so I didn't think I was going to be impressed but I of course wound up loving them.
