Chase opened his eyes to see a cheerful-looking old man in a large, old-fashioned overcoat smiling at him. He looked around to see that he was in his apartment and House, Cameron and CF were having a very animated conversation and didn't seem to notice the old man at all, but Wilson was staring at him and looking baffled.
"Who the hell are you?"
"Robert, I'm your guardian angel. I heard you express regret that you had bullied people when you were younger, and that's good that you want to make amends for having done wrong in your past. I'm here to show you that the best way to do this is not to seek out the people that you bullied but to discourage that behavior in others."
"What??"
"I told you, I'm an angel. Why do you think they," he gestured towards House, Cameron and CF, "can't see or hear me? Because they're atheists. Whether I can be perceived has to do with the strength of one's faith, no matter what that faith is. That's also why Wilson can only see me as a sort of blurry after image, so he thinks I'm a hallucination."
"What?! Because he's Jewish?!"
"It's got nothing to do with his being Jewish, it's because he's not very traditional or devout. If he were Orthodox he'd be able to see and hear me perfectly. Watch this." He reached over and squeezed Cameron's hand. She squeezed back and smiled. "She could feel me do that because she's not as hardcore an atheist as those two. If I wanted to I could mule kick this guy right in the bad leg and he wouldn't feel a thing," he added, pointing at House. "But that's not why I'm here. Do you remember a boy named Scott Taylor?"
Chase looked embarrassed. "Yeah, we went to primary school together, he was a shrimpy kind of a kid and I used to pick on him a lot."
"Come with me."
