What in the fuck is up with people just assuming I'm married? This isn't 1947, lots of people aren't married!
unrelated, I had a great time at the Skeptics in the Pub meeting last night, at least those people aren't stupid enough to assume everybody's married.

Haha, I'm skeptical of organized skepticism.

I was pretty shocked when a court clerk referred to me as "Mrs" the other day. Yes, I actually AM married, but I have never professionally been called Mrs., always Ms.!

Oddly enough, it seems common in my area that all women are referred to as "Ms." or "Ma'am" (the latter mostly for older women, the former could be any womman).

I've never been married, but I sometimes do wear a ring (one of my Mom's old rings - while it is not a wedding ring, it could pass for one). I'm not looking, and it's saved me from having to firmly tell some drunk assholes, NO! If the bug me, I just put my hand where they can definitely see the ring. I never say anything, just make sure they see the ring and they move on.

When drunk assholes bother me, it's not sexual, it's usually them insulting my appearance.

Drunk or not, mean people suck! There's simply no call for that... ever. I'm sorry you've had to deal with that. I've only had a co-worker call me "butt-ugly" once, but he was a bald, overweight asshole, so who cares! I certainly didn't care at all what he thought.

Oh this IS the bane of my life. Why are people still like that! Glad you had a good time at your meeting though.

Let me out-trauma you. Late October, I had a customer ask me if I was taking my GRANDKIDS trick-or-treating! I didn't correct him, but I assume I'd have to have children before I could have grandchildren.

I'm still clutching my pearls over that one. The audacity!
