Late yesterday afternoon I went to my favorite cafe to get a piece of caramel apple cake. On the way there I happened to pass by a new Mexican-Korean fusion place that was just having their grand opening and got some free tacos! They were good too! Being from Calif and having most of my family living in Texas I'm a bit picky about tacos (also I used to work in a Mexican restaurant).
They shut the water off in my apt bldg again this morning while they work on the plumbing. I thought they had finished with that Friday but apparently not.

Was able to pay the rent this morning because one of the staff was actually in the office where they were supposed to be today. Also got groceries and had to play freezer tetris when I got home. First world problems, at least I have enough $$ to put plenty of food in my freezer.

The party last night was fantastic, I had so much fun! Some people had really creative costumes, somebody was House, somebody was Albrecht Durer, somebody was the hot dog finger lady from Everything Everywhere, * etc. There were live musicians which I always love to see at a party and the food was really yummy. People loved my lemon cake.
Also I got the cell phone issue taken care of, the guy in the cell phone store was very helpful, unfortunately the AT&T woman I had to talk to on the phone was less helpful, she either wasn't paying enough attention, had some sort of hearing problem or her English was not great. I had to repeat myself and spell everything constantly.

* the theme was supposed to be everybody dress up as your favorite old person. I had several ideas but I couldn't put together a costume so I since just made a cake anyway I said I was Mary Berry. That got a laugh.

My cell phone account has been messed up for two days, it's in my dad's name and he said he would take care of it but I can tell he's getting really frustrated.
Thank fuck I'm going to a party tonight, I need cheering up.

I have a lot of laundry in the dryers right now, when I finish with that I have to go to the Safeway to get lemons and sugar and other things to make cake plus some other groceries.

Having some Assam tea. I had so much fun with my sister and her husband last night! We hung out in Gino & Carlo's (cool old Italian guy bar in North Beach) and then went to Caffe Sport (awesome pasta and seafood place down the block. It was great to talk to them and listen to the music and drink and catch up on stuff. I had spaghetti with shellfish and a spicy tomato sauce and she had lobster ravioli. He had a steak which I thought was kind of odd in a place that specializes in seafood and pasta but he enjoyed it and I didn't say anything other than "how's your steak?" and we had a ton of appetizers and wine. (She and I had the wine, he's a teetotaler.) I didn't even have to screw around with Bart or buses on the way home, they were nice enough to get me an Uber. From here on in I'm going to have to allow for more time to get around, that's twice in a row it took me much longer than usual to get into SF and I only live in Oakland, the same thing happened when I went to the Castro Friday.

Did some grocery shopping and put more $$ on my clipper card so I can take the Bart and buses to SF later today to meet my sister and her husband for dinner. I'm really looking forward to it especially because they want to have dinner in North Beach with all the cool bars and yummy Italian restaurants. :)

Last night I was bored so I decided to go over to the Castro to party and hang out with the gay dudes. Glad I did, I had a great time but it was unnerving to come home and hear people fighting outside my apt late at night and of course the minute the fight stopped my neighbors' baby starts screaming.

Did some cleaning up around here including taking the garbage out and went out and bought some clams and mussels because I already have shrimp and chicken and sausage and rice and veggies and spices and I want to make this special sort of stew that'll be my dinner for the next several days. (It's SORT OF like paella but not really because there isn't any saffron in it because I can't afford saffron.)

Today so far has gone much better than yesterday. I went to the deYoung and looked at cool art. There was an interesting talk by Native American artists who were saying most museums don't have enough recent Native American art, they're proud of what their ancestors have done but they want to show museum goers what the artists who are still alive have done too. I wanted to see the Egyptian art too but they were charging a lot of extra $$ for that.
Also got some goodies at the SF Arizmendi (it has a different menu than the Oakland one which I usually go to) and hung out in Golden Gate Park a little. The only negative thing was one bus had a really irritating little kid on it who would not shut up. The singing was particularly obnoxious. Of course the mother encouraged this.

All I wanted to do today was go to the local mom and pop grocery store and pick up a few things. I managed to get everything I wanted except for one thing. I went to four different stores and couldn't find it. I passed by my favorite cafe. They were out of the kind of cake I like. I got hungry and went into a restaurant I hadn't been in before. I ran into a friend but he was too busy to talk to me. The lunch I had was good, what was not good was being charged EIGHT DOLLARS FOR A BOTTLE OF WATER! Which was not marked on the damn menu so I only found that out when I got the check. Then the fifth grocery store was too far away for me to get what I needed by walking so I had to use up what little $ I had on my clipper card (electronic card you use for local public transit) and I was not near anyplace to recharge it. Also I had to wait for the bus with this guy who was a total fool. and on my way out of the last grocery store some guy tries to hit me up for $$ for some charity and I'm all "I don't have any money and I'm real stressed out" and some woman laughs at me. Then she and the guy who was hitting people up for money deny it was me she was laughing at. Gimme a break.

Somebody I thought was a friend turned out to be a bigoted jerk last night, going off on some tirade because he felt completely threatened by trans people and he wouldn't listen to anything anybody said. I'm pissed. My best friend is trans, I've been trying to talk her into going to these meetings but now I'm relieved she wasn't there. The only good thing was everybody else in that group including me is an ally. Uggh. It would have been a really nice evening but this guy had to ruin it.

Having some Darjeeling tea. My jaw really fucking hurt last night after the novocaine wore off. I swear dentists used to send people home with painkillers for this. It's a LITTLE better now.
Right now I'm doing laundry, I want clean clothes for when I go to Skeptics in the pub tonight. Glad this came up when it did, I do not feel like making dinner tonight.

Having some Irish breakfast tea. I had fun with my friend yesterday evening, we went out for drinks and dinner and heard some good music.
Not looking forward to tomorrow, I have to go to the dentist to get two fillings replaced and my dentist, although a great dentist and very gentle, does not use nitrous anymore so I won't even be able to get a good buzz off this.
