Having some Yunan tea. Getting an unusually large number of asshole scammers calling and it isn't even 11 yet, probably because yesterday was a holiday. Some of these people are so sleazy and awful I feel like washing after I talk to them. And people want to know why I don't bother getting a cell phone. 90% of the calls I get are from these scumbags. It's annoying enough to be bothered by them at home, I don't want them bothering me when I'm out too. It's just a good thing they can't see me over the phone. They are so rude to me.

Do you have caller ID? I remember when I had a landline, we got way more spam calls than I do on my cell, and that was even with registering for the Do not Call List. The problem is that so many of these originate overseas but spoof numbers to look domestic, so the Do Not Call List doesn't really mean much anymore.

I do have caller ID. A lot of the time I won't even pick up the phone. This morning one of the assholes called me claiming to be a lawyer but caller ID said they were calling from some hotel so I was all, "Why are you calling me from a hotel instead of your office?" and they panicked and hung up.

That is funny, even if annoying for you!

Cell phones often let you know "potential spam" on caller ID.

I haven't had a land line in a long time but just wondering... is your number listed? Do these people know your name when they call? I have filters on my phone but the calls I get are mostly completely random other than companies I use/have used trying to sell me more shit.

I've had an unlisted number since 1992. some of them claim to know my name.

Aye, I hear you. We have an answering machine with an outgoing message in Irish (not good, I never learned much) and most of the time we're awaiting medical stuff and of COURSE people don't know or remember how to use an answering machine as much as they will laugh at anyone else who can't use one themselves. It's been an eye opener how many hang ups we get, but it's been amazing listening to the ability just die in the last decade after we all learned how to use one or just talk on it presuming the person will hear you and pick up. Rarely does that happen.

God, you get so many calls from Scammers. O_O
Is that normal in the USA?
I mean, we get some scam calls as well but maybe once in a few days?

I have no idea if it's normal or not.
